At the end of the second day, Raters will be required to take a Rater Exam supplied the EPA. This is two full days of EPA mandatory training, exam preparation and exam performance. In 2010, EPA released new guidelines for homes to earn the Energy Star label (referred to as Version 3). With new national and regional energy codes rapidly becoming more stringent, new guidelines were needed to ensure that Energy Star qualified new homes continue to represent a meaningful improvement in energy efficiency over homes build to code with standard building practices. These standards will be enforced in January 2012.
