In 2010, EPA released new guidelines for homes to earn the Energy Star label (referred to as Version 3). With new national and regional energy codes rapidly becoming more stringent, new guidelines were needed to ensure that Energy Star qualified new homes continue to represent a meaningful improvement in energy efficiency over homes build to code with standard building practices.
